HIGH SPIRITS AND WIND AT BONFIRE

Last night high spirits and high winds led the Leakey ISD students to an amazing bonfire (see videos). Rise Across Texas Challenge Stopping in Leakey

To celebrate his 50th birthday Austin businessman Steve Hicks hosted 100 friends at a Caribbean getaway; Jimmy Buffet and the Beach Boys entertained. Hicks turns 60 in February and will mark the milestone in a dramatically different way: rallying 49 people to join him in bicycling 850 miles across Texas.

Olene Marie Fisher Guinther, age 87 of Leakey, passed away in Hondo on Tuesday, Oct. 27, 2009. Visitation was held Thursday, Oct. 29, 6 to 8 p.m., at Nelson Funeral Home in Leakey. Graveside funeral service held at 11 a.m., Friday, at Leakey Floral Cemetery, Ranch Road 337 and State Highway 83.
