We traveled to Knippa to play Tuesday night. We left with a 69-31 defeat to a very good Knippa team. I thought we played well the first half even though we were down 31-18 at halftime. We tried to mix up our defenses to keep them off balance a little bit but they are very well coached and had an answer to everything we wanted to do. They are very solid at every position and bring constant pressure defensively. We had our fair share of turnovers in the first half but were still scoring enough to keep us in it. We were feeling pretty good at halftime, but knew we had to sustain the defense for another two quarters. We came out the second half and just didn’t get the job done on offense or defense. I think we turned the ball over the first six possessions of the third quarter. We didn’t even get a shot away for about three minutes. Unfortunately, those turnovers led to run out lay-ups for Knippa and easy baskets. A team like that you cannot give them easy lay-ups, they are too good. When we did get shots we were unable to finish some easy shots for us and the lead grew for them. We were only able to score 13 points the second half. I think we got wore down physically and mentally in the second half. We need to put this one behind us and prepare for Utopia next Tuesday. We are 2-1 in district and still have control over whether we make the playoffs or not. We need to take care of our home court 2 of the next 3 games and we will be all right. Chastity Thompson led the scoring with 11 and Nicole Clark added 7. Kendra Bingham pulled down 11 rebounds, Chastity Thompson had 10 and Sarai Cone had 7 rebounds.
