To the Voters of Real County:
I am excited to announce my candidacy for the Republican Nomination for Real County Treasurer. With the upcoming retirement of Real County Treasurer, Kathy Brooks, I have decided to run for this very important public office to serve the citizens of the county.
Four generations of my family have made Real County their home and I have been privileged to attend school, live and work here all my life.
After graduating from Leakey High School, I received an Associate in Applied Science Degree from Southwest Texas Junior College. After college, I began my career working in the bookkeeping department of the Bank of Frio Canyon here in Leakey. Through the years, I worked in various departments of the Bank including paying and receiving teller, new accounts and loan department. In 1986, I was promoted to Cashier. As Cashier I supervised the bookkeeping department, teller department, new accounts department and safe deposit operations. I was also responsible for the loan operations and the payroll and quarterly/annual reports. In January 2007, I joined Community Health Development as Business Office Manager and oversaw the operations of Rolling Hills Health in Leakey and Canyon Health Center in Camp Wood. I am currently employed with Pathways Youth and Family Services as an Accounting Associate in the Administrative Office located in Leakey.
Through the years, I have had the pleasure of volunteering with several community organizations. I served as Treasurer of the Real County Junior Horse Club and Secretary/Treasurer of the Leakey PTO. I am currently on the Frio Canyon EMS Board of Directors and serve as Secretary of the Board. I also am a member the FCEMS Grant and Fundraising Committees. I serve on the American Cancer Society Relay for Life Committee, which I have done since our first Relay in 2003. I am a member of First Baptist Church and serve as the Treasurer for the Church and Day Care Center.
I believe the experience and skills I have acquired through my work and volunteer services the past 30 years have prepared me to seek this position as the chief custodian of the county’s finances. I look forward to the opportunity to visit with the voters of Real County and I ask for your support and vote as I seek the Republican Nomination for the office of Real County Treasurer.
Sincerely,
Vicky Cantrell
