On January 30, 2010 the Leakey Eagles Girls Junior High Basketball team participated in a 3 team round robin tournament in Rocksprings. The tournament included Rocksprings, Brackettville and Leakey.

The first game that the girls played was against Bracket and the team was able to come away with a 30 to 11 win.  The high scorers for the game were: Brianna Rubio with 7 points, Ty Ty Gass with 6 points and Mackenzie Wade with 5 points.

The second game was against Rocksprings and this proved to be the biggest challenge the team has face all season long.  The girls were constantly playing catch up and with just under a minute left in the ball game the basket was made to tie the game at 23 and send it to overtime.  In the 3 minute overtime we saw the Lady Eagles score 4 quick points off of their full court press and then hold on for a 27 to 25 win.  The high scorers were: Brianna Rubio with 10 points, Joanie Elliot with 7 points and Mackenzie Wade with 4 points.

By winning both games the Lady Eagles were declared the tournament champions and remained undefeated for the season.

Monday night we had both an A and B team games against Uvalde and we saw a good performance by both squads.  The B team, which does not play a full schedule, dominated their game from the beginning to the end, and came away with a 24 to 18 win.  The leading scorers were: Haley Bates with 10 points, Anna Contreras with 8 points and Ty Ty Gass with 4 points.

The A team also played Uvalde and came away with a very good 43 to 25 win. The leading scorers were: Brianna Rubio with 11 points, Mackenzie Wade with 10 points, and Joanie Elliot with 10 points.  This win helped keep the A team undefeated for the year with only the District tournament and a single game against D’Hanis remaining on the schedule.
